This rocky headland has been purchased by the coastal conservancy agency and has escaped property development. It closes off the eastern side of Saint-Malo Bay. Historically, it was a strategic position from which to defend Saint-Malo against attacks by the British. From the Pointe de la Varde, there is a splendid view of the "privateers' town".
