The Conseil Général (the equivalent of the county council) purchased a section of the grounds of the château which currently belongs to the religious Order of the Fathers of the Holy Spirit. The château, standing on the site of the 15th-century Manoir du Plessis-Gueriff, was restored in 1818 and it was then that a gardener working for the Duc de Berry designed the farmland.
