Have a family day out in the open air at Haute Vilaine outdoor activity centre at Saint-M’Hervé, 8km from Vitré, based around a lake of 150 hectares.
Children will adore the day’s programme : treasure hunt in the morning, picnic by the lake then a canoeing or paddle boarding in the afternoon. So let’s go!
Start the day with a well-marked orienteering challenge or a geocaching adventure (French only) around the lake.
Go to the water sports centre to get a special map for the orienteering challenge. This will enable you to find the 75 wooden markers on the course by following the path of your choice. To validate each marker you just have to punch your card. The aim of the challenge is to finish the course as quickly as possible!
You can also explore the Vitré activity centre by following a geocaching trail (French only). To take part, download the free app « Trésors de Haute-Bretagne » onto your smartphone and choose the trail called « Jetez-vous à l’eau ».
All this treasure hunting has probably left you feeling very hungry so it’s time for an outdoor lunch. You can choose a traditional picnic at one of the tables by the lake or have a barbecue!
A fire-pit allows everyone to barbecue their own food and enjoy a good family meal. Round off your lunch with a game of boules or a quiet walk beside the lake. Children can have fun at the nearby play parks.
Make the most of the lake by an afternoon of paddle-boarding, canoeing, windsurfing or catamaran sailing. Hire the craft of your choice or have a one-to-one lesson with a qualified instructor from the Haute Vilaine outdoor activity centre.
Remember to bring suitable clothing for water sports and your swimming stuff so you can have a swim at the little beach!
