Some 150 years ago, "Roland's Leap" in Dompierre du Chemin was quarried because the quality of its rock made it the ideal material for road building. Nowadays, only the quality of the natural environment is taken into account. Sheer cliffs rising to 562 ft. (173 m), deciduous woodland on the north and south slopes and a stream running through the valley provide ideal surroundings in which to maintain a legend or two.
