This is the home of the Du Guesclin family which, in 1280, built the Château de Plessis-Bertrand there. The cove named after the family is a beauty spot which, although it has the good fortune to have escaped property development, suffered greatly as a result of the building of the Rance tidal power station when the extraction of sand considerably reduced the area of dunes. Having lost their interdependence, the dunes then found it more and more difficult to withstand the attack of the sea. Thanks to the planting of marram grass to fix the sand, and the installation of windbreak fencing, the dune has gradually reconstituted itself and has now regained its purpose as a natural rampart against attack by the waves. At the same time, it has re-acquired its specific, diverse flora and fauna.
